Tensions flared in the Angata Barrikoi/Moyoi area of Narok County during a court-ordered land demarcation exercise led by Ministry of Lands officials, accompanied by police. The exercise sparked a violent confrontation as locals protested alleged land grabbing. Inspector General (IG) Japhet Koome later visited the site, stating the incident was referred to the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) for investigation. He also announced upcoming police reforms and stressed the importance of law and order. The violence is part of ongoing insecurity in Transmara, largely due to unresolved boundary and land disputes. Local leaders, including Governor Patrick ole Ntutu, called for a fair resolution and accountability, urging a stakeholder forum to address long-standing grievances. Senior security and political leaders were present during the IG’s visit, reinforcing calls for peace and justice.
