Metrine Simiyu, 28, was working at a bar when a dispute broke out between her and a customer. The customer stabbed her in the throat with a sharp object, causing her death on the spot, according to police and witnesses. The assailant fled the scene, and police are currently searching for him. Simiyu’s body was taken to Busia County Referral Hospital for a post-mortem.
In another incident, Abdul Wadud, 75, from Kendubay, Homa Bay, was found dead by suicide after hanging himself in his locked house. The cause is believed to be a domestic dispute over property.
Additionally, Martin Butali from Bungoma County also died by suicide, hanging himself in his home. Police are still investigating both cases. The rising trend of suicides has prompted concerns, with WHO citing factors like job loss, academic pressure, and mental health struggles.
