On Tuesday, July 9, Kilifi County commenced the distribution of more than one million mosquito nets as part of the National Malaria Control Program (NMCP). Funded by the Global Fund, this initiative aims to provide treated nets to all 22 counties identified as malaria-prone.
The distribution was officially launched by Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA) CEO Andrew Mulwa and Kilifi Governor Gideon Mung’aro, who flagged off 1,054,000 treated mosquito nets designated for the seven sub-counties within Kilifi.
KEMSA reports that Kilifi County has 679 health posts, reinforcing its classification as a malaria-endemic region in need of preventive measures against the disease.
