The 2026/27 FKF Premier League is finally under way after weeks of court battles, and defending champions Gor Mahia lead the early running with two wins from two. As of October 20, 2026, the opening two rounds have produced a 4-2 Gor Mahia win over Murang’a Seal, a 5-1 Murang’a Seal rebound, and a run of draws that leaves several clubs level on points.
What are the FKF Premier League results so far?
Gor Mahia opened their title defence on Tuesday, October 13, beating Murang’a Seal 4-2. Shariff Musa scored twice, with Jackson Dwang’ and Alpha Onyango adding one each, while Josephat Lopaga got both goals for the visitors. On Saturday, October 17, captain Onyango scored with fewer than five minutes left to give Gor Mahia a 1-0 win over APS Bomet at Raila Odinga Stadium in Homa Bay. That leaves the champions on six points and unbeaten.
Round-two results confirmed from match reports:
| Date | Match | Score |

| Sun, Oct 18 | Shabana v Nairobi United | 0-0 |
Murang’a Seal led 3-0 at half-time against Posta Rangers at SportPesa Arena, Majaliwa Charo scored in the 28th and 44th minutes, Lopaga in first-half stoppage time and the 83rd, and Michael Macharia in the 82nd. It was the club’s first home game of the season. Posta, who had lost 1-0 to Shabana in round one, have now lost both games.
At Bukhungu Stadium, Jacob Onyango put Ulinzi Stars ahead in the 28th minute before Maurice Ojwang headed in an 85th-minute equaliser for Kakamega Homeboyz from Rodgers Ouma’s cross. In Nakuru, Shabana and Nairobi United played out a goalless draw at Afraha Stadium, Shabana’s newly adopted home ground. Shabana are unbeaten on four points; Nairobi United, who drew 2-2 with KCB in round one, are still without a win.
Why was the 2026/27 season delayed?
The league was meant to start on September 19 but FKF postponed it, saying proceeding could expose the federation, clubs and officials to legal risk from court orders issued in Murang’a, Nairobi and Kiambu. A Murang’a High Court order of September 17 had barred FKF from holding matches, and a separate order required a play-off between Kariobangi Sharks and Mombasa United to settle the final top-flight place.
The two clubs agreed to a two-legged tie. Mombasa United won the first leg 2-1 in Mombasa on October 1. In the return leg at Ulinzi Sports Complex on October 6, Kariobangi Sharks led 2-1 when the referee awarded Mombasa United a penalty, and the match was abandoned in the 64th minute after a pitch invasion. On October 9, the FKF Leagues and Competitions Committee ruled that Sharks were responsible, awarded Mombasa United a 2-0 win and sent Sharks down to the National Super League. It referred the violence to the FKF Disciplinary Committee.
What did Gor Mahia’s coach say about the suspended players?
The champions’ start has not been quiet. Goalkeeper Byrne Omondi and defender Mike Kibwage, both in Harambee Stars coach Benni McCarthy’s squad, were left out of the opener after reported internal action by club management following a 5-1 CAF Champions League loss to Pyramids FC. Coach Charles Akonnor said the decision was not his, that management has authority over the technical bench, and that the pair are now “back” with the squad.
