A man tragically lost his life after being subjected to mob violence in Mlolongo, Machakos County, on Friday. The incident occurred near the Delta filling station in the Katani area.
Athi River East Subcounty Police Commander Anderson Mbae reported that officers from the Mavoko SNP police station were dispatched to retrieve the body, which was discovered lying in a trench around 1:00 PM. The incident was officially logged as a case of mob violence at 1:21 PM.
“It was reported by members of the public that an incident of mob violence had occurred near the Delta petrol station. Officers responded promptly and found an unidentified male, approximately 23 years old, who had died as a result of mob injustice,” Mbae stated .
Authorities noted that the victim sustained three visible stab wounds to the head, inflicted by a sharp object. The motive behind the lynching remains unclear.
The police secured the scene and subsequently transported the body to Nairobi Funeral Home (City Mortuary) for identification and an autopsy. Mbae confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, with detectives from the Mlolongo police station actively involved in the case.
