President William Ruto has justified the dismissal of former Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi in the recent Cabinet reshuffle.
Speaking at a media roundtable at Sagana State Lodge on Monday, Ruto revealed that Muturi had struggled to perform as Attorney General due to his long absence from legal practice. Despite initially expressing concerns about his capacity to deliver, Ruto persuaded him to take the role. However, after observing his difficulties, Ruto reassigned him as a Cabinet Secretary.
The President further disclosed that Muturi later stopped attending Cabinet meetings, effectively putting himself on strike. Ruto, who believes in second chances, said he had given Muturi another opportunity out of friendship, but Muturi ultimately dismissed himself.
“He has a good pension as a former Speaker, so he will not suffer much,” Ruto concluded.
