Murang’a, Homa Bay, Trans Nzoia, Kirinyaga, and Nyeri have been ranked as Kenya’s top-performing counties in a new Infotrak survey.
The poll suggests that first-term governors leading these counties may have a strong chance of re-election. Murang’a, under Governor Irungu Kang’ata, secured the highest rating at 52%, followed by Homa Bay’s Gladys Wanga at 51%. Trans Nzoia’s George Natembeya and Kirinyaga’s Anne Waiguru tied at 48%, while Nyeri’s Mutahi Kahiga scored 47%.
The rankings were based on service delivery in key sectors, including agriculture, health, education, infrastructure, energy, and trade. The survey also revealed a direct link between county performance and governor popularity, with Kang’ata emerging as the most favored at 68%, followed by Natembeya (64%) and Wanga (61%).
