The government is set to unveil the National Government Administration Police Unit (NGAPU) on January 24 in Kwale. Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen and PS Raymond Omollo will also launch the Administration Police Service Roadmap to Service Delivery Revitalization (2025-2028).
NGAPU, operating under the Administration Police Service (APS), is tasked with supporting National Government Administrative Officers (NGAO) in security management and law enforcement. This includes maintaining law and order, providing protective security for government premises, assisting in regulatory enforcement, and aiding in conflict resolution and peace-building initiatives.
The unit’s headquarters will be in Nairobi, with regional formations across administrative levels. NGAPU joins other APS specialized units, including the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team, Border Patrol Unit, and Stock Theft Prevention Unit.
