Westlands MP Timothy Wanyonyi has mourned his mother, Mama Anne Nanyama Wetang’ula, as a wise and inspiring mentor. Mama Anne, also the mother of National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, passed away on Friday after a prolonged illness.
“Mayi Anne was more than a mother to me—she was a mentor, a source of strength, and a guiding light. Her wisdom, kindness, and prayers sustained me through every season of life,” Wanyonyi said, adding that her legacy of compassion and humility will forever remain with him.
He requested prayers for his family during this difficult time, expressing hope that her memory would inspire others to live with love and purpose.
President William Ruto extended condolences to Speaker Wetang’ula and Wanyonyi, while Bungoma Governor Ken Lusaka remembered Mama Anne as a “remarkable community mobiliser and mentor.” Senate Speaker Amason Kingi noted that her passing had plunged the Parliament and the nation into mourning.
