A man was arrested in Mirema, Kasarani, for allegedly kidnapping and holding an Indian-Kenyan man for ransom in what police believe is a new con game targeting unsuspecting victims. The victim was rescued on Tuesday after detectives traced the suspects’ hideout.
The scheme involved a woman luring the victim to her house, where accomplices accused him of inappropriate conduct and coerced him into sharing his family’s contacts. The suspects demanded a ransom, and the victim’s family paid Sh310,000 before alerting the police.
Officers recovered the phone used for ransom demands and are hunting for other accomplices. Nairobi police chief Adamson Bungei confirmed the victim was safely reunited with his family.
