A 17-year-old student from Sironga Girls High School in Nyamira County tragically lost her life after falling from the second floor of her hostel. The school principal, Jane Nyanumba, stated that the student showed no signs of distress before the incident, describing her as well-rested and without apparent issues. On the morning of the incident, while other students were preparing for showers, the student jumped from the building, suffering severe head injuries upon impact. She was rushed to Nyamira Level Five Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
Preliminary investigations by local authorities revealed that the deceased was an introverted individual who often kept to herself. Despite the school’s strong counseling resources, she reportedly did not communicate any struggles to her peers or teachers. The Deputy County Commissioner, Florence Obunga, confirmed that no notes were found that might indicate her intentions, and investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances leading to this tragic event.
