The Cannes Young Lions creative competition kicked off at the EABL headquarters in Nairobi on March 8, 2025, bringing together 60 young professionals eager to showcase their talent.
With teams competing in digital, design, and print categories, the atmosphere was a mix of excitement and nerves. For participants like Francis Kimathi, the competition is both a challenge and an opportunity to grow. “I’m a bit nervous, but I’m here to put my best foot forward and have fun,” he shared.
Many, like Tinashi Mwaniki and Maissy Wairimu, felt right at home in the design category, while others, such as Chrys and Mwaki Oringa, saw it as a bold move to push their creative limits.
Participants have just 24 hours to develop a campaign for an NGO, charity, or purpose-driven organization, with the winners securing a spot at the Cannes Lions Festival in France. Supported by title sponsor Safaricom, the competition highlights Kenya’s rising creative talent on a global stage.
