Venezuela has released six U.S. detainees following high-level talks in Caracas between President Nicolás Maduro and a senior Trump administration official. The release was confirmed by former President Donald Trump and his special envoy, Richard Grenell.
Grenell shared a photo of the six men aboard a plane, stating they had spoken with Trump to express their gratitude. The White House had previously pressured Venezuela to release the detainees and accept deported Venezuelan criminals or face consequences.
While the meeting did not signify U.S. recognition of Maduro’s leadership, it marked a significant diplomatic engagement. Maduro recently began a third term after disputed elections widely rejected by the international community, including the U.S.
