A 13-year-old girl has been stabbed, and six teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. Humberside Police reported that she was discovered at the side of the A63 dual carriageway in Hessle around 07:00 GMT.
She sustained “lacerations” to her neck, chest, and abdomen, with her injuries described as “life-threatening.” The suspects include four boys aged 14, 15, 16, and 17, and two girls aged 14 and 15, who were apprehended shortly after in a nearby wooded area.
Detective Superintendent Simon Vickers stated that he believes the attackers were known to the victim, who remains in critical condition in the hospital. “I understand this incident will understandably raise concerns in the community, and I want to assure you that we have six individuals in custody being questioned by detectives,” he said. “At this point, we believe the attackers knew the victim, and we are continuing our inquiries to clarify the circumstances surrounding the incident.”
Det Supt Vickers expressed gratitude to those who assisted the seriously injured girl before emergency services arrived. Searches were conducted near the Hull Humber View Hotel in North Ferriby, close to Hessle.
The police are seeking information from anyone who may have dashcam or CCTV footage and have established a cordon around the wooded area off Ferriby High Road.
As night fell in North Ferriby, about 12 officers continued their search near the A63 until around 18:00 GMT. This area features busy roads interspersed with patches of woodland. The search focused on a field between the railway line and the dual carriageway, extending into the adjacent woods. Officers were seen coming in and out of the nearby Hull Humber View Hotel, which appears to serve as a temporary base for the ongoing investigation that began nearly 12 hours ago following the stabbing.
