Police used teargas to break up a crowd outside Kirobon Girls High School in Nakuru, where former Senator Cleophas Malala clashed with officers. Malala was blocked from supervising rehearsals for Echoes of War, a Gen Z-themed play he wrote and directed for Butere Girls High School. Although a court lifted a ban on the play, police allegedly barred the students from training. The incident occurred during the Kenya National Drama and Film Festival. Teargas disrupted the area, injuring several journalists. The play critiques governance, digital activism, and the role of youth in societal change.
