President William Ruto has urged an immediate and unconditional halt to hostilities in Eastern DRC, condemning the escalating insecurity and humanitarian crisis. He emphasized the need for all parties to allow humanitarian access and pursue peaceful resolutions. As East African Community (EAC) chair, Ruto called on DRC’s President Félix Tshisekedi and Rwanda’s Paul Kagame to prioritize regional stability. He announced plans to convene an EAC Extraordinary Summit within 48 hours to address the crisis. This comes as M23 rebels advance in Goma, displacing over 400,000 people since early 2025.
