A 40-year-old man suspected of violent robberies in Lokichar township, Turkana County, has been arrested following a public tip-off. Officers from Lokichar Police Station apprehended him and recovered an AK-47 rifle, magazine, and ammunition at his home in Kapese village.
Also found were stolen items including motorcycle frames, a solar inverter, a car wash pump, and a white Tata double cab. Police are investigating the number of robbery cases linked to the suspect, who is expected to face robbery with violence charges.
Meanwhile, in Suguta Marmar, Samburu County, gunmen stole 41 goats after firing in the air and fleeing. Despite a major search, no arrests have been made. The Anti-Stock Theft Unit is leading the pursuit.
These incidents come amid Operation Maliza Uhalifu Phase Two, launched by Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen to combat insecurity in the North Rift region. The operation, involving the NPS and KDF, is using new tech and has command centers in Kirimon (Laikipia) and Chemolingot (Baringo) to target banditry across several counties.
