Authorities are investigating the mysterious death of a Chief Executive Officer of an insurance brokerage firm, who allegedly fell or jumped from the seventh floor of his office building on Ngong Avenue, Nairobi.
The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon, with police examining whether it was a case of suicide or possible foul play. Nairobi Police Commander George Seda stated that while the company’s offices are on the 14th floor, witnesses reported that the CEO took the lift to the seventh floor before leaping to the ground floor, dying on the spot.
The motive remains unclear, but sources indicate that the CEO had recently been approached by the police regarding an ongoing investigation initiated by a government agency. Officers processed the scene before moving the body to the mortuary for an autopsy. Shocked employees at the firm are awaiting further details as investigations continue.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident in Gilgil, Nakuru, a 20-year-old man identified as John Waigwa was found dead, having allegedly taken his own life by hanging himself from a tree with a nylon rope. No suicide note was recovered, and the motive remains unknown. His body was taken to the Gilgil Sub-County morgue for autopsy.
Cases of suicide have been on the rise despite ongoing awareness campaigns. The World Health Organization cites factors such as unemployment, financial struggles, academic pressure, mental health disorders, substance abuse, and family history of suicide as common contributors to such tragedies. Authorities continue to urge individuals facing distress to seek professional help.
