Members of Parliament have renewed efforts to protect the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) after a court ruled it unconstitutional. The High Court ordered the fund to cease by June 30, 2026, citing violations of the separation of powers.
Speaker Moses Wetang’ula assured MPs that his office would seek alternatives, including statutory amendments, to preserve the fund. Lawmakers argue that scrapping NG-CDF would disrupt education and infrastructure projects.
At a Naivasha retreat, MPs also discussed legislative efficiency, committee restructuring, and the need for better post-service planning for lawmakers.
