The Human Resource Management Professionals Examinations Board (HRMPEB) has officially rolled out the April 2025 examination series for the Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET) Diploma in HR, along with the first-ever Craft Certificate in HR.
The exams, which kicked off today, April 9, will run until April 16, 2025, across multiple examination centers nationwide. This marks a key milestone in advancing HR education and practice in Kenya.
HRMPEB CEO CHRP Margaret Nguu said the rollout of CBET-aligned programs reflects the government’s broader Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) agenda. She noted the initiative aims to strengthen HR capabilities by integrating practical skills with theoretical knowledge.
“This is a transformative step in the professionalization of human resource management in Kenya,” Nguu stated. “The CBET approach ensures graduates are equipped not just with academic understanding, but also with real-world skills that meet today’s HR demands.”
Under the CBET framework, candidates will be assessed on their ability to demonstrate core HR competencies in practical settings—shifting the focus from purely academic evaluations to hands-on capability.
Nguu urged candidates to embrace the model, emphasizing its potential to give them an edge in both local and international job markets.
“We’re shaping HR professionals who are ready to apply what they learn and drive impact within organizations,” she added.
