Two individuals—a licensed gun owner and a mall guard—were arrested after a dramatic confrontation on 12th Street in Eastleigh, Nairobi, on Tuesday night. The incident, which occurred around 8 pm, started after the guard accused the gun holder of blocking a mall entrance. A crowd gathered, escalating tensions.
In response to the growing mob, the gun holder fired three shots into the air, allegedly to disperse the crowd. One of the bullets damaged a nearby window, and the mob retaliated by hurling stones at his Toyota Land Cruiser V8, severely damaging it. He also lost the magazine to his pistol during the chaos. Police intervened and arrested both men for investigation.
In a separate case, police in Malaba arrested two suspects linked to a series of violent robberies in Busia. A Tokarev pistol with eight rounds was recovered from one suspect’s home. Authorities are probing whether it was used in previous crimes.
