A contingent of GSU officers has been sent to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) to prevent any further escalation following a strike by workers.
The strike, which began with a go-slow on Tuesday night, reached its height on Wednesday morning.
Key operations at the airport have been severely disrupted, with flight delays and hundreds of passengers stranded.
The strike was organized by the Kenya Aviation Workers’ Union (KAWU) after negotiations with airport management stalled.
A visit to crucial areas of the terminals revealed no activity as workers stayed away from their posts.
At one point, officers arrested several workers who were chanting “Adani must go” and blowing whistles.
Those who spoke to the media promised not to return to work until their issues are addressed.
In addition to grievances related to the Adani deal, they are also demanding the resignation of some KAA Board members and three senior managers, citing incompetence and mishandling of the leasing agreement.
