Police are investigating four separate drowning incidents reported across the country, including the death of Reuben Ngetich, 55, who was found in a swamp in Itoik village, Kericho. Ngetich, who had a known history of epilepsy, is believed to have suffered a seizure while showering near the water. His body, which showed no visible injuries, was taken to Kapkatet Sub-County Hospital mortuary for autopsy.
Elsewhere, a two-year-old boy drowned in a tank in Kathonzweni, Makueni, while playing. In Kendu Bay, Homabay, 31-year-old Gilbert Otieno drowned in Lake Victoria, and a five-year-old boy died after falling into a 12-meter-deep water pan in Endebess, Trans Nzoia. Police have linked the rising number of drowning cases to ongoing heavy rains. All bodies have been moved to local mortuaries pending post-mortem and investigations.
