Detectives are searching for three gunmen who attacked a senior police inspector in Limuru, Kiambu County, and robbed him of his pistol.
The officer, based at Limuru Police Station, was en route to Ngarariga Police Station for an inspection when he was ambushed by armed assailants near Njira Njeru, Kwa Rufus Shopping Center. The attackers, riding a motorcycle, brandished an AK-47 rifle, blocked his car, and forced him off the road.
After his vehicle veered into a ditch, the gang ordered him out at gunpoint, seized his firearm—loaded with 15 rounds of live ammunition—and fled. Fortunately, the officer was unharmed. Authorities believe the assailants may have trailed him before the attack and are working on leads to recover the weapon.
