Detectives are investigating the murder of a man whose decomposing body was discovered in his house in the Riruta area of Nairobi.
Concerned neighbors, disturbed by a foul smell, checked the residence and found the deceased, identified as Robert Kinyua, 23, on Tuesday. Authorities suspect he may have died at least two days earlier.
Police responding to the scene reported stab wounds on the collarbone and right thigh. The motive and identities of the assailants remain unknown. The body was transferred to the mortuary for autopsy as investigations continue.
In Masii, Machakos County, the body of Simon Mutula, 42, was found on the roadside, showing signs of a brutal attack. His legs and right hand were broken, and he had deep wounds on the forehead and other injuries. Officials believe he was killed at the scene, though the motive remains unclear. His body was moved to Machakos Funeral Home for postmortem.
Elsewhere in Borabu, Nyamira County, police arrested a suspect in connection with the murder of Evans Nyakururu, whose body was found in a tea plantation with visible injuries. The suspect is in custody as investigations continue.
Meanwhile, in Kandara, Murang’a County, a man died when a quarry collapsed while he and his colleagues were harvesting stones. James Gatei, 52, was fatally trapped, while another worker sustained serious injuries and was hospitalized.
Authorities have warned locals about the dangers of quarrying in unsafe areas.
