The Africa Digital Media Institute (ADMI) and Women in Real Estate Society (WIRE) have forged a strategic partnership aimed at enhancing digital literacy within the construction industry and driving innovation in the real estate sector.
Over the course of five years, this collaboration will equip professionals in the built environment—including developers, architects, quantity surveyors, and engineers—with essential skills in digital and content marketing, web development, data analysis and visualization, Artificial Intelligence (AI), augmented reality, product development, and professional etiquette.
ADMI CEO Dr. Laila Macharia expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, highlighting its potential to promote best practices regionally and internationally. “We are excited about the possibilities this partnership brings and are committed to leveraging our networks to promote best practices regionally and internationally,” she noted.
Ms. Sue Ellen Mumbi, WIRE’s Research and Advocacy Lead, emphasized the shared commitment of both organizations to mentorship, skills development, and advocacy. “Through network synergy, awareness campaigns, and knowledge-sharing publications, we are shaping a brighter, more inclusive future together,” she said.
Technological advancements are expected to play a crucial role in transforming Kenya’s construction industry. Innovations such as 3D printing technology and Building Information Modelling (BIM) are poised to enhance efficiency and reduce costs. AI, in particular, is anticipated to streamline operations at construction sites by optimizing material usage and reducing waste.
The Economic Survey 2023 indicates that the construction sector in Kenya experienced a growth rate of 4.1% in 2022, down from 6.7% in 2021. However, the sector’s market size was Ksh2.5 trillion in 2022, and it is projected to achieve an average annual growth rate of more than 5% between 2024 and 2027.
The industry’s growth is expected to be further supported by the government’s focus on implementing public-private partnerships (PPPs) in affordable housing projects, signaling a promising future for the construction sector in Kenya.
