President William Ruto has appointed Geoffrey Ruku as the Cabinet Secretary for Public Service and Hannah Cheptumo as CS for Gender, effective April 17, 2025.
Ruku replaces Justin Muturi, who was dismissed in a recent Cabinet reshuffle, while Cheptumo takes over from Aisha Jumwa, whose position had remained vacant since the Cabinet’s dismissal in July 2024.
The National Assembly unanimously approved the appointments on Wednesday after the two nominees were vetted by the Committee on Appointments. The committee’s report was presented to Parliament on April 15.
Ruku will head the Ministry of Public Service, Human Capital Development, and Special Projects, while Cheptumo will lead the Ministry of Gender, Culture, the Arts, and Heritage.
In addition, President Ruto appointed 14 new Principal Secretaries, also effective April 17. The appointees include Jane Kere Imbunya, Regina Akoth Ombam, Cyrell Odede Wagunda, Caroline Wanjiru Karugu, Fredrick Ouma Olaga, Ahmed Abdisalan Ibrahim, Judith Nayiai Ramaita-Pareno, Bonface Barasa Makokha, Shaukat Ali Abdulrazak, Stephen Isaboke, Michael Lenasalon, Fikirini Jacobs Katoi Kahindi, Carren Ageng’o Achieng, and Aden Abdi Millah.
