President William Ruto’s senior economic advisor, Moses Kuria, has strongly condemned the disruption of a church service attended by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, calling the act “ungodly” and politically regressive.
Reacting via his official X handle, Kuria likened the incident to the infamous AIPCA Kenol chaos of 2020, warning that such actions risk divine wrath. “This is utterly ungodly. Leave your backward and primitive political wars out of places of worship,” he posted. “The lightning that will strike us is still loading. Pole sana Gachagua.”
His comments followed chaotic scenes at PCEA Mwiki Church in Kasarani, where unidentified individuals attempted to force their way into the sanctuary shortly after Gachagua’s arrival. Security was briefly compromised as gunshots rang out and congregants resisted the intrusion.
The former Deputy President was swiftly shielded by his security team. Despite the tension, calm was later restored, and the service proceeded without further incident.
Speaking after the fracas, Gachagua condemned the attack and questioned its motive, suggesting it was part of a wider effort to limit his public engagements. “Why goons were sent to attack us during a church service, I do not understand,” he said, hinting that he would address the matter further in an upcoming interview.
