The Kenya Prisons Service (KPS), under the Ministry of Interior, has announced job openings for professional cadet officers, technicians, and artisans. Applicants must be Kenyan citizens with valid ID cards, a clean criminal record, and meet specific age and physical requirements. Diploma and certificate holders must be aged 18–28, while degree holders must be between 18–30 years old.
Candidates should meet minimum height standards—5’4″ for men and 5’2″ for women—and be physically and medically fit. Female applicants must not be pregnant during recruitment or training. Training will be fully sponsored and will last 13 months for cadet officers and nine months for technicians and artisans.
Eligibility includes a relevant undergraduate degree for cadet officers, a diploma or certificate for technicians, and KCSE D+ plus trade test or craft certification for artisans. Applicants must fill out the PSC.2 form (Revised 2007), available at www.publicservice.go.ke, and attach all necessary academic documents and ID copies.
Applications should be addressed and delivered to the Commissioner General of Prisons at Magereza House, Bishops Road, Community Area, Nairobi, by April 30, 2025, at 5 PM.
