Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has expressed his joy at returning to Kenya following his bid for the African Union Commission (AUC) chairmanship.
Speaking for the first time after the election, Raila thanked President William Ruto, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, and all Kenyans who supported his campaign. “East, West, North, and South—home is best. I feel happy and delighted to be back in Kenya after what we went through,” he said.
He described the election as an eye-opener, stating that he gained a deeper understanding of Africa’s challenges after meeting over 40 leaders across the continent. Despite losing to Djibouti’s Mahamoud Ali Youssouf in the final voting rounds, Raila viewed the experience as a win, saying it now allows him to focus on other priorities in Kenya.
