Environment, Climate Change, and Forestry CS Aden Duale has expressed confidence that former Prime Minister Raila Odinga will win the African Union Commission (AUC) chairmanship race.
Duale credited President William Ruto’s vigorous support for Raila’s campaign, highlighting the former premier’s outreach to 40 Heads of State as a key advantage. With 49 votes up for grabs, Raila needs 32 to secure victory. Duale noted that nine visiting Heads of State had already pledged their votes.
He dismissed critics who oppose Raila’s bid, arguing that many politicians rely on his local political presence for their own electoral success. The AUC elections are set for February 15-16, where Raila will compete against Djibouti’s Mahmoud Ali Youssouf and Madagascar’s Richard Randriamandrato.
