A man walked into the Milimani police post in Cherengany, Trans Nzoia County, on Saturday and confessed to killing another man in his compound following a land dispute. He arrived armed with a bloodstained kitchen knife and informed the officers that he had stabbed the victim after a quarrel.
Officers on duty disarmed him and took him into custody. Upon visiting the scene, police found the body of Philip Ekitale lying in a pool of blood with a deep chest wound. Investigations revealed that the dispute erupted after Ekitale used a footpath on land belonging to the suspect’s family, escalating into a fatal confrontation. The knife was retained as evidence, and a probe into the murder is ongoing. The body was transferred to Kitale County Referral Hospital Mortuary for a postmortem.
