Mumias East MP Peter Salasya has advised young people to embrace financial discipline and avoid faking a lavish lifestyle that could lead to financial struggles. He emphasized that economic challenges, particularly unemployment, make it crucial for the youth to spend and invest wisely rather than chasing luxury.
Salasya cautioned against excessive spending on entertainment, especially alcohol, calling it a direct path to financial ruin. He encouraged those who do not drink to remain teetotalers, citing his own modest lifestyle during his university years at Egerton, where he lived in a simple Sh1,500 rental for four years.
The MP also criticized the trend of flaunting wealth on social media while struggling in reality. He warned that such habits often lead to debt, depression, and legal troubles, urging young people to focus on financial stability instead of seeking validation through material possessions.
