A man and a woman died on Thursday after a C185 light aircraft crashed in Kedong Ranch, Naivasha. The victims, who were related, had departed from Wilson Airport in Nairobi and were en route to Mbaruk when the crash occurred at around 2:15 PM.
Authorities cited difficult terrain and poor weather conditions as challenges in rescue efforts, which continued into the night and were set to resume Friday morning. The aircraft, registered as 5Y-BVL and operated by Farmland Aviation Limited, went down for reasons yet to be determined.
Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) officials are investigating the incident. While light aircraft accidents remain common in Kenya, concerns over aviation safety persist, with past crashes often attributed to pilot error, bad weather, or mechanical failure.
