MPs allied to former Prime Minister Raila Odinga have joined calls for Public Service CS Justin Muturi’s resignation, deepening divisions within President William Ruto’s government. Led by Minority Leader Junet Mohamed, the lawmakers criticized Muturi for his recent accusations against National Intelligence Service (NIS) boss Noordin Haji over the alleged abduction of his son, Leslie.
Muturi claimed his son was detained by the NIS and was only released after President Ruto intervened. His remarks angered lawmakers from both sides, with Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah suggesting Muturi was discontented with his reassignment from Attorney General to Public Service CS.
Junet and Ichung’wah urged Muturi to resign if he no longer aligned with the government’s policies. Muturi, however, maintains his stance, calling for a national conversation on enforced disappearances. The government has denied involvement in abductions, but Muturi’s statements have fueled speculation about a growing rift between him and the President.
