President Joe Biden has postponed his planned visits to Germany and Angola.
According to State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller, Biden will stay in the U.S. to oversee preparations and response efforts for Hurricane Milton. He noted, ‘The President’s travel to Berlin and Angola has been postponed to focus on Hurricane Milton.’
Biden was originally set to visit these two countries from October 11 to October 15, 2024, accompanied by Secretary of State Antony Blinken. This trip would have marked Biden’s first visit to Africa as President.
However, with the U.S. elections approaching in less than a month, it is possible that he may complete his term without visiting the continent.
In contrast, last year, Vice President Kamala Harris and First Lady Jill Biden both traveled to Africa, with the First Lady visiting countries including Kenya.”
