The government has clarified that the recovery of Hustler Fund loans will be conducted in compliance with Kenyan laws and data protection regulations. MSMEs Development Principal Secretary Susan Mang’eni addressed concerns raised by media reports about the involvement of intermediaries such as banks and mobile service providers in the recovery process. She emphasized that the Fund is separate from these intermediaries and assured that the recovery methods will protect defaulters’ personal data. Since its launch in November 2022, over Sh57.8 billion in loans have been disbursed, with Sh45.5 billion repaid.
