A team of detectives has been dispatched to a village in Rarieda, Siaya, to investigate the murder of an assistant chief.
Police reported that the assistant chief of Memba sub-location, Moses Mbeda, was killed by unknown assailants in his compound on the night of September 21. Mbeda was attacked around 1 am and sustained serious injuries to his neck, ultimately dying at a local hospital.
According to Siaya Police Commander Serah Koki, Mbeda was attacked while he was on his way to a latrine. He was quickly taken to Lwak Mission Hospital, where he was pronounced dead due to his injuries.
Mbeda’s body is currently at the Lwak Mission Hospital mortuary, awaiting a postmortem examination. No arrests have been made, and the motive behind the attack remains unclear. Detectives in the area are following important leads regarding the possible perpetrators.
