Lands Cabinet Secretary nominee Alice Wahome, in a candid moment, encouraged the National Assembly Committee to consider her responses favorably.
During her appearance before the Committee on Thursday, Wahome humorously remarked on her current unemployment, stating, “I am jobless and in need of this position. This is the first time since 1985 that I find myself without a job.” She expressed gratitude to the Committee for the opportunity to present her case.
Wahome also revealed that her and her husband’s combined net worth is Sh327,650,000, attributing this increase to the appreciation of their properties and a substantial Sh14 million payment received from a tenant in March.
Earlier in the session, Wahome emphasized her readiness for the ministerial role, asserting that she is a dedicated team player with a strong work ethic. “I am a team worker, a hard worker, and I believe I have the right attitude for the role of minister,” she said.
With a background in law, Wahome noted her familiarity with certain aspects of the ministry, particularly within the State Department for Lands. She expressed confidence in her competence and her ability to address past challenges with the support of Parliament.
Wahome previously served as Cabinet Secretary for Lands from October 5, 2023, to July 11, 2024.
