Following President William Ruto’s announcement on Wednesday, congratulatory messages have begun flooding in for former Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho, who has been nominated to lead the Ministry of Mining, Blue Economy, and Maritime Affairs.
Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nassir took to Twitter to extend his heartfelt congratulations, emphasizing Joho’s recognized dedication, leadership, and vision. Nassir expressed confidence that Joho will excel in his new role pending confirmation by the National Assembly.
Nairobi Woman Rep Esther Passaris retweeted Nassir’s message, underscoring the widespread support for Joho’s nomination.
Meanwhile, High Court Advocate Ahmednasir Abdullahi remarked, “With a dagger, Sultan is back!” in apparent recognition of Joho’s return to a prominent role in government.
As of now, Joho himself has not publicly commented on his nomination. Other notable nominees announced alongside Joho include Wycliffe Oparanya for Cooperatives, John Mbadi for National Treasury, Opiyo Wandayi for Energy and Petroleum, Kipchumba Murkomen for Youth Affairs, Stella Lang’at for Gender, and Rebecca Miano for Tourism.
