A family in Kasipul is seeking justice following the murder of their 24-year-old daughter, Lilian Atieno, who was allegedly killed by her boyfriend at a guest house in Rodi-Kopany market on July 1, 2024. The family claims police are not conducting a thorough investigation to apprehend the suspect.
Atieno, a saleswoman from Migori County, traveled to meet the man, who had sent her money for transport. She waited six hours at the guest house before the suspect arrived. Her body was discovered the next morning with no visible injuries, and the family’s postmortem revealed she was poisoned.
Despite the family’s concerns about the slow progress of the investigation, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations is following leads and has collected samples for testing. The suspect reportedly used a false ID to check into the guest house, and police are interviewing Atieno’s colleagues for more information. The body is at Homa Bay County Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary.
