On August 3, over 1,000 athletes will gather at Two Rivers, Koroga Grounds, for the much-anticipated Karura Chapel Run. Building on the success of last year’s inaugural event, which attracted more than 580 participants and six corporate sponsors, this year’s run promises to be even more impactful.
Organized by Karura Community Chapel, this charity-based event combines walking and jogging—affectionately termed “wogging.” Under the theme “Wogging for a Cause,” the initiative aims to raise funds for charity while promoting health and fitness within the community.
“This exercise is less intense than running, making it accessible to individuals of all ages and abilities,” said Linda Ajima, fundraising manager at Karura Community Chapel. “We encourage families and groups to participate together.”
Ajima expressed excitement about hosting the second edition of the Karura Chapel Run, emphasizing its significance beyond fitness. “The inaugural event was a great success, and we are confident this year’s will be bigger and better. This run is an opportunity for our community to unite for a worthy cause while promoting a healthy lifestyle.”
Digital Strategist Arnold Mukabi urged athletics enthusiasts to join in. “Whether you’re a seasoned runner or just starting your fitness journey, we encourage you to join us on August 3 for a day filled with fun, fitness, and community spirit,” he said. “Every step you take will not only challenge you physically but also contribute to making a difference in the lives of those in need. All proceeds from the event will support charitable causes.”
Registration for the event is now open, with fees set at Sh1,500 for adults and Sh700 for children. Participants can choose from three categories: 21km, 10km, and 5km.
