The Kwale government, led by Governor Fatuma Achani, has announced a Sh20 million initiative to enhance beach access roads and install streetlights to promote tourism. Recognizing the importance of its beaches as key resources for attracting both domestic and international tourists, the government aims to improve transport infrastructure and create new tourist attractions.
Governor Achani launched the upgrade of Watatu Watano and Mvureni beach access roads in Diani, emphasizing the commitment to economic growth through improved infrastructure. The planned enhancements will provide safer and brighter streets, ensuring tourists enjoy a comfortable experience.
Diani Beach, recognized as Africa’s best beach destination, is pivotal for local tourism, and these developments are expected to drive traffic and reduce travel delays. The governor’s efforts aim to further solidify Kwale’s reputation as a premier holiday destination while boosting job creation and economic opportunities.
Achani was recently honored as the Woman of Excellence in Tourism 2024 for her significant contributions to the tourism sector in Kwale.
