The Women Enterprise Fund (WEF) has rejected claims by Auditor General Nancy Gathungu of misusing Sh1.4 billion. Gathungu’s report highlighted unaccounted mobile transactions, undocumented gratuity payments, and suspicious variances in loan and maintenance expenses.
WEF CEO Racheal Musyoki and Chair Jane Langa’t called the accusations false, stating the fund is managed transparently to support women’s empowerment. They emphasized that the Fund operates independently under the State Department for Gender and Affirmative Action and pledged full cooperation with Parliament’s audit committee.
Musyoki urged anyone with evidence to report it legally and warned against spreading defamatory claims. WEF reaffirmed its dedication to empowering women through affordable loans, training, and market support.
