A gang opened fire, injuring two pedestrians while fleeing a robbery in Wamba Town, Samburu County.
Police and witnesses reported that eight armed men raided a shop, holding a couple hostage. Four of them carried rifles, while the rest had crude weapons.
The assailants assaulted the couple, demanding cash and valuables before stealing Sh300,000, airtime scratch cards, and other goods.
As they exited, a crowd gathered, prompting one of the gunmen to fire indiscriminately, hitting two men in the legs. The injured were rushed to Wamba Sub-County Hospital, with one later transferred to Maralal County Referral Hospital in critical condition.
Police recovered six spent cartridges at the scene. The gang fled on foot after a plainclothes officer fired a warning shot. A manhunt is underway.
The region has seen a rise in armed attacks in recent weeks, with police attributing them to fleeing bandits.
In a separate incident, a Turkish national was injured in a robbery at his Embakasi home in Nairobi.
The victim reported that two men trailed him home on Wednesday night, stealing 2,000 Euros, his passport, and a mobile phone.
Neighbors, alerted by a commotion, found him tied up with visible injuries on his face, chest, and legs. He was taken to Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital in stable condition.
Police have launched an investigation into both incidents.
