U.S. President Donald Trump has named conservative commentator and podcaster Dan Bongino as the new deputy director of the FBI. Bongino, a former NYPD officer and Secret Service agent, will serve under recently confirmed FBI Director Kash Patel.
A staunch Trump ally, Bongino has no prior experience in the FBI, making his appointment unusual for a role traditionally held by a career agent. His daily podcast, The Dan Bongino Show, has been influential in right-wing circles, often amplifying Trump’s narratives. He has pledged to help reform the FBI, emphasizing crime-fighting and removing what he calls “woke culture.”
Trump announced that Bongino will step away from his podcast to take on the role, stating he will help restore “fairness, justice, law, and order.”
