Kenya has launched the “One Tourist, One Tree” campaign, encouraging every visitor to plant a tree to boost the country’s tree cover and support biodiversity conservation. Tourism Principal Secretary John Ololtua emphasized the need for sustainable tourism practices, noting the industry’s significant contribution to the economy and its environmental impact. The initiative aims to help achieve Kenya’s goal of 30% tree cover by 2032. Tourists will participate in the campaign, planting trees to offset their carbon footprint. The program will involve various tourism stakeholders and focus on promoting eco-tourism.
