Outstanding biotechnology students from Egerton University, Kenyatta University, and the University of Nairobi have been honoured by the Kenya University Biotechnology Consortium (Kubico) in a ceremony celebrating academic excellence and innovation.
During the event, Kubico announced plans to revamp its Youth Wing to promote biotechnology awareness in universities. Scientists and scholars used the occasion to urge for policy reforms, stronger industry support, and increased youth engagement to drive the growth of Kenya’s biotechnology sector. They emphasized biotechnology’s role in addressing national challenges—from food security to healthcare—and called for judicial clarity on biotech regulations to enhance job prospects for graduates.
