On Monday night, at least three individuals were killed in a fire in the Lunga Lunga slums of Nairobi. The blaze, which began around 8 p.m., completely destroyed a house where the victims were located, according to reports from police and local residents.
The victims, who were asleep when the fire started, were burned beyond recognition. They were identified by their mother as a 16-year-old Form Two student, an eight-year-old girl in Grade Two at Joyland Vision Academy, and a four-year-old sister.
The fire originated from the affected structure and spread rapidly, leading to the fatalities. It was extinguished by county fire services, and the bodies were subsequently discovered and transported to the City Mortuary.
The cause of the fire remains undetermined, and police are investigating the incident. Several emergency responders were dispatched to the scene, as reported by Nairobi police chief Adamson Bungei.
