The Kenya Meteorological Department forecasts mostly sunny weather and relatively warm daytime temperatures across much of the country from August 6 to August 12, 2024.
The first half of the period will see sunny conditions and warm temperatures in most regions. However, this will transition to intermittent cold and cloudy weather in the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, as well as the Southeastern lowlands and Rift Valley.
Rainfall is expected in parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, North-western Kenya, the Rift Valley, and the Coast, while the remainder of the country is likely to stay dry.
Temperatures will be high, exceeding 30°C in some coastal, North-eastern, and North-western areas. Conversely, night-time temperatures in the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, Southeastern lowlands, and Rift Valley will drop below 10°C.
The Highlands West of the Rift Valley, including counties such as Kisii, Nyamira, Nandi, and Kericho, will experience morning rains, with afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms expected.
In the Lake Victoria Basin, which includes counties like Siaya and Kisumu, expect sunny intervals during the day with occasional afternoon showers and thunderstorms.
North-western Kenya, including Turkana and Samburu, will see morning rains and possible afternoon and night showers.
The Highlands East of the Rift Valley, including Nairobi, will have intermittent cloudiness and light rains in the mornings, transitioning to sunny intervals. Showers are expected in high ground areas in the afternoon and evening.
North-eastern Kenya, including Marsabit and Mandera, will experience sunny intervals with some morning rains and afternoon showers in Marsabit.
The Southeastern lowlands, including Machakos and Kitui, will have occasional morning cloudiness followed by sunny intervals, with partly cloudy nights.
At the Coast, including Mombasa and Kilifi, expect morning and afternoon showers with partly cloudy nights.
